Recipes for a Better Menopause is a new book from award-winning chef, Jane Baxter working together with nutrition expert Dr Federica Amati, who is head nutritionist at ZOE.  Taking scientific research and combining with super-tasty, nourishing recipes, the two women have produced a book that will help to harness the power of food to optimise your health. Surplus Food Charity, Plan Zheroes : Looking for recipes for their new cookbook

Plan Zheroes are a surplus food charity connecting businesses with surplus food to nearby charities who can use it. This Autumn, Plan Zheroes will be making a new cookbook and they are inviting all who care about food-surplus to join them in this celebration. Modern South Asian Kitchen: Recipes and Stories Celebrating Culture and Community by Sabrina Gidda – Debut Cookbook

Our friend and long time supporter, Sabrina Gidda’s debut coookbook Modern South Asian Kitchen was published by Quadrille Books in March 2023.

In the book, we see the merging of Sabrina’s professional career in modern European kitchens unite with her Punjabi heritage, culminating in 90 unique and stunning recipes that are comforting, playful and big on flavour.  She offers snacks and small plates for entertaining, quick and light dishes for midweek meals and stunning recipes for feasting with friends – encouraging readers to not be fearful of their spice cupboards. In her words, she is “creating new traditions as well as honouring old”.

The Cookbook Festival returns to Chiswick from 12th to 16th September 2019 as part of the Chiswick Book Festival.  The festival has a great and varied line-up of chefs; every single one with their own fascinating approach to cooking and inspirational stories to share. Winners of Fortnum and Mason Food and Drink Awards 2024 – we celebrate with the women who won

The Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Awards are one of the most eagerly awaited dates in the culinary calendar.  Recognising excellence in food and drink writing, broadcasting and photography, for thirteen years, Fortnum and Mason are continually championing those who help others to enjoy, explore, experiment, and discover more about food and drink, through their writing, photography, and commentary.  It’s an area that women do very well in and this year was no exception.  Our co-founder Mecca Ibrahim was at The Royal Exchange for a star-studded awards ceremony on May 2nd 2024 to see the winners.

Reflections on Working at Le Gavroche & The Role of the Over 50s – by Louise Monaghan

Having worked at Le Gavroche in 1990 under Albert Roux, Louise Monaghan returned last year to be part of the closing team. She has reflected on her time there and has written a piece for us at Women In The Food Industry about the contrast between her experiences in her 20’s and 50’s and the vital role that ‘seasoned individuals’, like herself, still have to play in the hospitality industry. Louise is now starting a new venture to encourage over 50’s to work in the hospitality industry.

Black Bull Dinners – Top 50 Gastropub to host female chef dinner series for Spring 2024

The Black Bull, Sedbergh, is gearing up to host its first ever spring chef dinner series, with top female chefs set to take to the Black Bull’s stoves to create three one-off small plates tasting menus alongside chef-owner Nina Matsunaga who was recently seen on Great British Menu.
