At Women in the Food Industry we are interviewing the strong female line-up of chefs from across Britain competing on Great British Menu to serve their dish at the final banquet. To kick start the series, our co-founder, Mecca Ibrahim, interviewed Shannon Johnson Head Chef at Hicce in Coal’s Drop Yard, London. Born in Lincolnshire, Shannon is representing the Central region.

We are delighted that Great British Menu (GBM) is returning to our screens on 1st February 2022 for series 17. The BBC Two show puts the nation’s most talented chefs to the test. This year GBM has had its most significant re-vamp with a brand new panel of judges including food entrepreneur, Nisha Katona.

When the national lockdown in March 2020 hit, the hospitality industry ground to a halt as did the TV and film industry. A mini crisis ensued as lost filming contracts affected the majority of freelancers that make up an estimated 50% of the TV and film industry. Series Editor, Antonia Lloyd, tells us about filming Great British Menu during the pandemic.
