“Summer Healthy Eating & Nutrition” : Panel Discussion – Monday 3rd June 2024

Women in the Food Industry hosted an event that was all about healthy eating in preparation for the summer! This isn’t about getting “beach body ready” but how to maintain a healthy approach to our diets and eat well throughout the year. The discussion featured esteemed nutritionists, chefs, and cookbook authors who bring a wealth of expertise from diverse culinary backgrounds, dietary philosophies, and cultural perspectives.

Healthy Eating Panellists

Mex Ibrahim co-founder of Women in the Food Industry chaired a lively panel with the following speakers:

Anjula Devi personifies agelessness and health and is a firm believer in the power of food, especially spices. She is an author and consultant chef with Manchester United and produces sustainable and authentic Indian cuisine.

Nicola Moore is a seasoned nutritional therapist with a forward-thinking approach in the nutrition and lifestyle medicine sector. Since the early 2000s, she has honed her skills, serving as a senior academic at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION) for over 12 years, and as the Head of Clinics for four years. A sought-after speaker at conferences and events she regularly contributes her expert opinions and advice to mainstream media.

Amber Francis, is an award-winning chef, hailed as one to watch on Great British Menu. She is now cooking incredible food in a school and has joined Chefs In Schools at Christ’s College Finchley as the Head Chef and Senior Food Educator. This pioneering non profit, recently won a BBC Food and Farming Award – the Derek Cooper Award for Outstanding Achievement.

Dominique Woolf is the winner of Channel 4’s The Great Cookbook Challenge with Jamie Oliver and founder of The Woolf’s Kitchen – an award-winning range of chilli oils, sauces and pastes inspired by her Thai roots. Dominique trained at Leith’s School of Food and Wine and is a food writer, entrepreneur and home cook to her family. Her first book, Dominique’s Kitchen topped the charts as a No. 1 Sunday Times Bestseller. Her second book, The Asian Pantry was published in June.

Attendees enjoyed a variety of healthy snacks and drinks from female founded food businesses:

Event Highlights:

At the event, attendees connected with like-minded individuals, learnt from experts, and enjoyed snacks and drinks that were not only nutritious but would help you enjoy your summer to the full. It was a celebration of an evening of women in health! The event was open to all – men and women!
