Conduit Food Community Drinks

Our co-founder Mex Ibrahim is a member at impact community The Conduit & through a LinkedIn Group is helping to bring together all those committed to a more sustainable future for the food industry.  Conduit members are entrepreneurs, investors, creatives, business leaders, activists, civil-society leaders and policymakers, bringing together knowledge, networks and capital for sustained positive impact. They have clubs in London and Oslo.

The networking drinks on 1st May are great way to find out more about how The Conduit team are working to find the most sustainable ingredients and food suppliers for the club itself and its new restaurant Rucola.

It’s a chance to exchange ideas & discuss key issues facing the food industry when it comes to sustainable food.

We’ll be meeting in the Ubuntu “snug” on the 3rd floor to chat about how Ruth Davison Global Director of Impact at The Conduit (pictured above) & other staff such as Jazal Babar, Beth Chamberlain & Eliza Gleave are working to source new sustainable suppliers & organising related food events at their Saturday brunch workshops.

Mex recently attended Sarah Fulton Vachons olive oil tasting at The Conduit. Her female led olive oil company Citizens of Soil is a relatively new supplier to The Conduit but she’s already making an impact through the fascinating insights we learnt at the workshop & tasting.

Suppliers include Neal’s Yard Dairy, South Coast Fisheries, Lake District Farmers in Cumbria, Natoora and you’ll also hear about another supplier Angry Monk who supply surplus “imperfect” fruit & veg to The Conduit. Instead of the vegetables going into a landfill to be wasted, by working with Angry Monk those ingredients are salvaged effectively. They are sourcing non-seasonal, non-local ingredients, (eg mangoes), but in a sustainable way.

Also event the decorative plants in Rucola are having an impact. They are sourced from a social enterprise called Glass House, which provides horticultural training to women who are in prison and then employs them when they’re released. Through simply enjoying the decor you can appreciate that The Conduit are giving new career opportunities to women who are in the criminal justice system.

The event is free and signature cocktails & other drinks are available to buy from the bar.
