Lily Morris wins Young Cheesemonger of The Year 2023 in The World Cheese Awards

Congratulations to Lily Morris who became Young Cheesemonger of the Year 2023.  The 21 year old from Morris’ of Usk Garden & Food Centre in Usk, Monmouthshire, south Wales  picked up her honour at the World Cheese Awards held at the Trondheim Spektrum, Norway.  The Academy of Cheese run the contest which champions new talented cheesemongers under the age of 30.

The BBC Food and Farming Awards 2023: We celebrate the Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the BBC Food and Farming Awards which took place on 25th October 2023 at the ICCW in Newport.  The awards were judged and hosted by great presenters including Radio 4’s The Food Programme host, Sheila Dillon, Thomasina Miers, cook, television presenter and co-founder of the Wahaca chain of Mexican restaurants, drinks writer Jaega Wise,  food presenter Leyla Kazim and presenters Sam and Shauna from Hangfire BBQ.  We were delighted to see so many women win awards at the ceremony.

Spotlight on Women Head Chefs and Restaurateurs in National Restaurant Awards 2022

Hundreds of votes from chefs, food writers, editors, top industry suppliers and critics were counted to reveal the country’s best restaurants. This year’s Estrella Damm List of Top 100 Restaurants shows a number of inspiring women running award-winning restaurants including the restaurant which took the top slot Ynyshir run by Amelia Eiríksson and her head chef partner, Gareth Ward.

Lorna McNee recognised in global culinary awards, La Liste, as new talent to watch

Lorna McNee, head chef of Cail Bruich has been recognised by internationally renowned industry awards La Liste under the ‘new talents of the year’ category. Lorna is the only British chef to be given this accolade and features alongside some of the UK’s leading restaurant names including L’Enclume and Core, who were included in La Liste’s Top 1000 restaurants in the world.

Tiptree World Bread Awards with Brook Food is not being defeated by the restrictions imposed due to coronavirus. In a special edition for 2020, the Awards will be recognising the people behind the loaf, the bakers, millers, farmers and all others closely involved.

The winners of the annual Observer Food Monthly Awards were announced on 17th October 2019.  Celebrating the best in food and drink, the awards are voted for by both readers and a panel of judges. With diner demand for eating out with a minimal impact on the planet and at a time when the climate crisis is making headlines like never before, the finalists for Food Made Good Awards 2019 have been revealed. The awards recognise the restaurants, foodservice businesses and people whose accomplishments have driven progress in the industry and demonstrate that all food can be made delicious, ethical and sustainable.  45 finalists who are making a difference in the food industry are on the shortlist for this year’s awards run by The Sustainable Restaurant Association.

Lessons learnt from Anishya Kumar – Businesswoman of the Year in the British Indian Awards 2019
